01. Zootopia

《疯狂动物城》

Zootopia是zoo 加utopia 组成。乌托邦Utopia 本意是"没有的地方"或者"好地方"，延伸为理想，空想的国家。这个词语源自托马斯·莫尔的名著《乌托邦》。在他的书中，乌托邦是一个美好理想的国家，每个人都能够努力成为自己想要的样子。Zootopia，即为动物乌托邦。

02. Avatar

《阿凡达》

这个词语来自梵文avatarana，意思是“下凡”，指的是神灵降临人间的化身。电影《阿凡达》中的avatar是地球人的精神所占据并控制的外星人肉体，与印度教 中的avatar含义相差甚远。因此，电影《阿凡达》在上映之前就遭受了印度教团体的强烈抗议，声称电影名字玷污他们的宗教。世界印度教协会主席曾要求导 演卡梅隆做出声明，澄清这部3D科幻影片的名字与印度教及其信仰毫无任何关系，重名只是一个巧合。在网络时代，avatar又有了一个新的意思——个人在网络虚拟环境中的化身，即代表用户形象的图像，即常说的“头像”或“个人秀”。

《料理鼠王》

04 The Pursuit of Happyness

影片中提到了《独立宣言》，片名引用了《独立宣言》的语句。We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. ——《独立宣言》

A Woodman was felling a tree on the bank of a river, when his axe, glancing off the trunk, flew out of his hands and fell into the water. As he stood by the water’s edge lamenting his loss, Mercury appeared and asked him the reason for his grief; and on learning what had happened, out of pity for his distress he ped into the river and, bringing up a golden axe, asked him if that was the one he had lost. The Woodman replied that it was not, and Mercury then ped a second time, and, bringing up a silver axe, asked if that was his. “no, that is not mine either,” said the Woodman. Once more Mercury ped into the river, and brought up the missing axe. The Woodman was overjoyed at recovering his property, and thanked his benefactor warmly; and the latter was so pleased with his honesty that he made him a present of the other two axes. When the Woodman told the story to his companions, one of these was filled with envy of his good fortune and determined to try his luck for himself. So he went and began to fell a tree at the edge of the river, and presently contrived to let his axe drop into the water. Mercury appeared as before, and on learning that his axe had fallen in, he ped and brought up a golden axe, as he had done on the previous occasion. Without waiting to be asked whether it was his or not the fellow cried, “ that’s mine, that’s mine,” and stretched out his hand eagerly for the prize: but Mercury was so disgusted at his dishonesty that he not only declined to give him the golden axe, but also refused to recover for him the one he had let fall into the stream.

Honesty is the best policy.

一个樵夫从树上跌落到了河岸上，他的斧子从手中滑出，掉到了水里。当他站在水边伤心难过时，众神的使者墨丘利出现在他的面前，问他为什么伤心。得知事情的经过后，墨丘利很同情这个樵夫，于是潜入水中，捞起了一把金斧子，问樵夫这是他丢失的斧子吗，樵夫回答说不是。墨丘利又潜入水中，捞起了一把银斧子，问樵夫这是他丢失的斧子吗，樵夫回答说：“不，这也不是我的。”于是墨丘利第三次潜入水中，捞起了他丢失的斧子。失而复得，樵夫大喜过望，非常热情地感谢自己的恩人。墨丘利很欣赏他的诚实，于是把另外两把斧子当作礼物送给了他。樵夫将这件事讲给自己的朋友听，其中有一个人很嫉妒他的好运，也想去试试自己的运气。于是他也到河边，故意从树上跌落下来，非常费力地让自己的斧子落入了河中。众神的使者墨丘利又出现了，得知他的斧子掉入水中后便潜入了水中，捞起了一把金斧子，就像之前一样。而这次这个樵夫却没有等墨丘利问斧子是不是他的，就激动地叫起来：“这是我的！这是我的！”然后伸出手，满怀希望地去夺那把斧子，但是墨丘利因为樵夫的不诚实而非常厌恶他，不仅没有把这把金斧子交给他，而且也不愿意再下水帮他打捞那把掉入水中的斧子了。

诚实方为上策。

我们来学习一下这则故事中的地道表达：

1/ golden axe, silver axe 金斧子，银斧子

Axe表示斧子，golden即表示材质是黄金做的，又表示颜色是金色的。同理，silver即表示材质是银的，也表示颜色是银色的。

2/ fall into...掉进。。。

Fall表示跌落，下落。那么掉到什么里就放在into的后面，比如，掉进水里fall into water。

3/ lament 对。。。感到悲伤

Lament是个动词，那么具体对什么事情感到悲伤就加在这个词的后面，比如，对他的损失感到悲伤lament his loss。

4/ pe into...潜入。。。

Dive表示下潜，潜水，那么潜入某个地方就放在pe into的后面，比如，潜入河里pe into river。

5/ bring up...拿起，捞起

Bring表示带来，拿来，那么拿起或捞起什么就在bring up后面加什么，比如，捞起金斧子bring up a golden axe。

6/ recover property 重新找回财产

Recover表示恢复，重新获得。Property表示资产，财产。所以recover property就表示重新找回财产。

7/ be pleased with 对。。。感到满意

Please作动词，表示开心，满意。那么对某事满意则是be pleased with...,比如，对他的诚实满意be pleased with his honesty。

8/ envy of...嫉妒。。。，羡慕。。。

Envy作动词，表示嫉妒，羡慕。具体羡慕嫉妒什么要加在envy of后面，比如，羡慕他的好运envy of his good fortune。

9/ be disgusted at...厌恶。。。

Disgust作动词，表示使反感，使憎恶。那么反感厌恶什么要放在be disgusted at 后面，比如，厌恶不诚实be disgusted at dishonesty。

10/ honesty 诚实

这是名词形式的诚实，它的形容词是honest，那么不诚实就在前面加上前缀dis，表示否定，dishonesty不诚实。

明白了这些单词的含义，让我们再来听一遍这则寓言故事吧。
